2004 & 2005
ASA Sailing School of the Year
| The
Santa Barbara Sailing Center has been named AMERICAN SAILING
ASSOCIATION SCHOOL OF THE YEAR for both 2004
and 2005 because of its outstanding instructional
standards, services and facility. Since 1982, ASA schools have
created and maintained rigorous standards within the sailing
community, graduating and certifying thousands of new sailors
annually. The American Sailing Association has grown into a
worldwide network of 260 professionally accredited sailing schools,
all of which are globally recognized and endorsed by the U.S.
Coast Guard. |

Skip
H. Abed, the Sailing Center's owner and general manager,
took over the Center in the year 2000 and has been working
diligently to improve all services that they offer. Skip
hand picked a team of dedicated professional sailors to
work with him. He gave Mr. Ian FitzGerald, the Sailing School
Director, the objective to turn the school into the best
and largest accredited sailing school in the nation. Mr.
FitzGerald was able to meet his objective in 2004 and then repeat the accomplishment in 2005.
The
Santa Barbara Sailing Center has over 40 charter boats in
their program and a staff of 30 instructors, all with thousands
of hours of cruising experience. The Center's world class
location has many benefits, including The Channel Islands
National Park and Marine Sanctuary. The Santa Barbara Channel
is a beautiful area to learn to sail and cruise, and the
Sailing Center is able to accommodate the sailor of all
levels. It also operates year round, with a sailing club,
a full rental and charter boat operation, corporate events,
and a 50 foot catamaran, The Double Dolphin, which conducts
public and private cruises along the Santa Barbara Channel.
