With the broad spectrum of sailing conditions available in the Santa Barbara Channel, we are able to accommodate sailors of all levels, teaching them how to sail in a variety of unique and challenging situations. During your instrucitonal vacation, you'll learn basic boating skills, then progress on to more advanced sailing techniques including heavy weather sailing, anchoring, electronics and troubleshooting of various boating systems. The pinnacle of your sailing vacation will be a trip to the majestic Channel Islands National Park, where you'll experience marine life and scenery like nowhere else on earth.

Our instructional sailing vacation format is extremely informative, and we are certain that you'll be well educated and prepared to sail anywhere in the world. Our curriculum far exceeds the requirements of overseas charter companies, and even that of The American Sailing Association itself. If you review the textbooks and reading materials we send you in advance, we guarantee that you will not receive a more comprehensive program anywhere!

Santa Barbara, California, also known as the "American Riviera", is one of the most popular tourist destinations in California. Santa Barbara is known for it pristine beaches, wonderful Mediteranean climate and an amazing array of activities, shops, restaurants and culture. When you're not on the water learning to sail, you can go explore the town, eat in one of our many fine restaurants, go shopping, hiking or wine tasting, get a massage, or just experience about anything else you can imagine.

The Santa Barbara Channel makes for a challenging and beautiful area to learn to sail and cruise. Here it is not uncommon to have winds in excess of 25 to 30 knots with 4-8 foot seas out in the channel while the inner waters, within a couple of miles of the coastline, experience a gentle 10 to 12 knots and 1-2 foot seas. The variety of conditions here teaches you how to handle a boat and be confident in any number of situations and weather patterns. Santa Barbara is a sailor's paradise.
The average temperature here is about 75 degrees, with plenty of sunshine, and we also have whales that frequent our waters year round. There are almost always dolphins, seals, sea lions and an incredible assortment of marine life too.
